Encasement flies in with the perfect cover up at Bristol Airport
Bristol Airport’s new £6.5 million central walkway area is using more than 350 metres of Nova perimeter casings from Encasement to conceal structural blockwork while providing an aesthetic and durable finish within the main terminal building as part of a major expansion programme.
The walkway has been constructed to help ease congestion at peak travel times and has space for four pre-boarding zones serving six departure gates. It has also been designed to accommodate the latest generation of twin-engine, wide-body jets, such as the Boeing 787.
Encasement’s Nova perimeter casing is manufactured from strong 12mm thick plywood, which is pre-formed to the precise dimension needed for the project to give a perfect fit. The casings are also finished in a hard-wearing light grey Polyrey laminate finish, designed to resist surface damage in high traffic areas.
While the total length of the Nova casings is more than 350 metres, they were manufactured in 3-metre horizontal lengths to simplify installation, with each section standing 647mm high with a depth of 150mm.
