Encasement helps create a stylish interior at new Birmingham retail centre
Decorative aluminium and stainless steel column casings together with an extensive horizontal bulkhead are helping provide shoppers with a stylish and welcoming interior at the £40 million Swan Centre retail redevelopment in Yardley, Birmingham.
The Swan Centre, which includes a new Tesco Extra store and 21 further prime retail units, provides around 170,000 sq.ft of retail space, with the mixed-use regeneration scheme also covered the refurbishment of an adjacent residential block.
To meet the centre’s requirements Encasement supplied and installed a high-level polyester powder coated (PPC) aluminium bulkhead from its Vecta range, which runs the entire length of the 100 metres long enclosed mall, as well as 11 square ‘Forma’ metal column casings.
Encasement’s 600mm square aluminium and stainless steel column casings are finished in two different colour schemes to help shoppers clearly identify the entrance and exits to the centre’s Tesco store. Close to the entrance, three casings are finished in a bright red and incorporating two textured 150mm wide stainless steel strips at the base and mid-level.
The remaining eight casings, adjacent to the array of checkout tills, are split 50/50, with the top half manufactured from aluminium coated in a PPC finish with the lower portion using durable Rimex stainless steel incorporating a textured ‘linen’ pattern to provide maximum protection from damage in this busy retail environment.
Each column casing is also designed to accommodate a vertical channel on each side, which allows the multiple security shutters to be raised and lowered while maintaining the integrated finish and look to the storefront.
