Encasement column casing installed at one of Europe’s tallest buildings
Circa column casings from Encasement have been installed in one of Europe’s tallest residential building developments, The Landmark at Canary Wharf, which consists of two sleek towers with the tallest standing 140 metres high and providing uninterrupted views across London.
Designed by award-winning architects, Squire and Partners, The Landmark was developed by Chalegrove Properties and incorporates a range of energy-saving and sustainable technologies including a biomass heating plant to reduce carbon emissions and a wildlife-friendly ‘brown roof’.
The recently completed 45 storeys residential tower dominates the East London skyline and this prestigious project uses a series of 300mm diameter column casings, manufactured from lightweight and durable pre-formed plywood, to conceal structural columns within the building.
Finished in plain white, the 2.8-metre high Circa column casings provide an aesthetic finish that integrates easily with the building’s contemporary interior décor and reflects the high standard of finish in all aspects of the building’s design.
Encasement’s managing director, Martin Taylor, commented: “The Landmark is a truly spectacular residential project, which integrates perfectly with the modern architecture for which Canary Wharf has become well known. Naturally, we’re delighted to be involved with this important development, which is one of a growing number of major projects in London that are using our column casings, interior wall cladding and other casing solutions.”
